“Hackathons are about ideas. We are looking for innovative app concepts and cool designs that will inspire us. It is always nice to see new talent. We are looking forward to checking out what local developers and designers can bring to the table,” says Martin Šťáva, STRV’s CTO.
The hackathon is open to all interested iOS developers and designers, who will work together in teams of one or two to come up with compelling app ideas using Apple’s WatchKit. There will be plenty of Apple Watches on hand to test the apps, and each member of the winning team will be awarded with their own Apple Watch.
Winners will be selected by STRV team members. “We’ll be looking at the overall package,” says Vojta Šťavík, an iOS developer at STRV who will be acting as the hackathon’s chief mentor. “The winning team must not only present a great app idea but also have an eye-catching design. In my opinion, the perfect team combo will include an experienced developer and designer.”
The day will start with a brief Apple Watch tutorial before we turn teams loose to hack away! Snacks and lunch will be provided. Admission is free, though teams must register beforehand. STRV is also planning to host a hackathon at our San Francisco offices. There is no set date yet, but the event will likely take place in late April, early May shortly after the Apple Watch hits the US market. So mark your calendars. We will be releasing more information in the coming weeks.
