We have collectively circled the globe to compete in marathons, relay races and other fun obstacle and trail runs from Prague to Honolulu and many points in-between. Some might consider this a mad obsession, we call it determination and a defining characteristic of STRV’s enduring team spirit.

In the last two months alone, Team STRV has completed in the Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon, Cross Baba Kamzik, the Spartan Race and the invigorating 360 km Vltava Run, which half of our 12-member relay did with hangovers the day after our Karlin office-warming party last month.

Running is part STRV culture with COO Lubo Smid leading the charge having competed in nine (!!!!!!) races this year so far — three marathons and six half marathons — including races in Vienna and Los Angeles.

Our CTO Martin Stava is not far behind, having competed in at least one run per month, including a marathon in Barcelona and the recent half marathon in Ceske Budejovice, which he ran in sandals!

Martin being Martin didn’t think Bratislava’s 26 km Cross Baba Kamzik route, which cuts through the woods and up hills, was long enough, so he decided to double back, running a total of 53 km that day. We are still looking for someone to dethrone this running powerhouse.

At STRV, we believe that keeping fit and healthy helps with work results, too, which is why we encourage our team to participate in sports. In addition to two running clubs, one for advanced runners and one for beginners, we have five other sports clubs our employees are encouraged to participate in.

In that vein, we will host our first Run & Code Race in September, which will combine, well, running and coding along a 10 km course in Krcsky les. Each checkpoint hides a clue written in code that teams must solve in order to move on.

More information coming soon!
