Culture Step

A marketplace is only as strong as its experience. And for sneakerheads on the move, that experience has to be mobile. Laced knew their community needed something faster, sharper and more tailored than the web could offer alone. So we set out to build a mobile app that wasn’t just a copy of the desktop site, but a step up.

The goal? Match the web’s power, but make it feel native to mobile. Clean navigation, instant performance, seamless transactions.

CHALLENGE

Delivering web-level performance in a tighter, faster mobile format

Recreating Laced’s high-performance web experience for mobile came with a unique set of challenges. This wasn’t about scaling down — it was about rethinking complex tools for a mobile-first audience, without sacrificing speed or functionality.

One of the biggest lifts? The seller dashboard. On web, it was powerful but dense. On mobile, it had to do just as much — listing management, order tracking, earnings control — while remaining intuitive and streamlined.

There were also technical constraints to consider. The app needed to handle location-based compliance rules, support real-time performance across regions and serve a vast sneaker catalog without latency. Every element had to be efficient, responsive and scalable… all in a lean mobile package.

End-to-end, step-by-step

Search and discovery were critical, too. We integrated Algolia to deliver lightning-fast, relevant results that scale with the catalog, giving users instant access to the sneakers they want, no matter how deep the inventory runs.

And to help Laced keep improving, we layered in Mixpanel for behavioral analytics, giving Laced’s team real-time visibility into how users navigate the app, where they drop off and what’s worth doubling down on.

Throughout, we worked side-by-side with Laced’s internal team to sync logic, iterate quickly and keep everything aligned with user needs.

To bring the mobile experience to life, STRV led the full product lifecycle, from UX design to backend infrastructure, using React Native to ship a high-performance marketplace mobile app across iOS and Android from a single codebase.

We redesigned the seller dashboard for mobile, making complex tasks like inventory management, pricing and withdrawals into something that feels natural. Bulk actions, smart defaults and clean UI flows give sellers control without the clutter, whether they’re listing one pair or a hundred.
